These 7 Powerful Things Claude Can Do But ChatGPT Still Can’t
Capabilities are making more users reconsider their AI assistant.
ChatGPT also has skills. Did you know that? Most people don’t. But Claude does something with skills that makes them, and I’m not exaggerating, about a thousand times more useful for the way you actually work.
1: Adaptive skills
Now, after I posted the story about the Claude skills I use every day, the comment I kept getting was, “How do you remember what each one does?” Honest answer, I don’t.
Because Claude reads what I’m trying to do, picks the right skill, and fires it.
- I don’t have to name it.
- I rarely call it.
- I never remember it.
I type what I’m working on, and Claude does the rest.
That’s one of seven things that Claude does that ChatGPT structurally can’t. And the next six are all built on the same idea: that the best AI is not the one with the most features. It’s the one that you don’t have to think about.
If you’re using ChatGPT right now for your business, I’m not here to tell you to delete it.
Most of what you think the two tools share, they don’t actually have in common.
Many people think Claude and ChatGPT are basically the same. One is just newer now and then. That’s not true.
They were the same in 2023. In 2026, they’ve diverged so far that comparing them feels not so much like Pepsi versus Coke, but more so like a toothbrush versus a Power Drill. Same shape, but different outside, different machines.
Seven things, in order of how much they’ll change your week, that Claude can do that ChatGPT really can’t.
2: Cloud Co-work
Now, ChatGPT can see files. You drag them in one at a time, up to about 80 per session. But that’s an upload, and it’s a chat.
Cloud has co-work. And co-work is the type of product where the AI doesn’t sit on the other side of a window. It sits inside the folder with you.
Now, let me give you an example. Let’s say you keep a folder on your desktop called, I don’t know, Q2 sales pitches, and you’ve got a bunch of PDFs, a bunch of pitch decks, your rate card, and half-finished email templates.
What you can do is ask Claude to go through the folder and prepare a pitch deck for you for accountability.
You walk away, come back, and you have a finished deck. That is not a thing that ChatGPT can do out of the box.
ChatGPT’s autonomous agent runs in a cloud sandbox. It cannot see your local files at all.
To get anything close, you have to install and configure a custom MCP server, which is a developer move, not a non-technical founder move.
Now, co-work comes with that built in. You point at the folder, and Claude works in the folder. That’s it. This one alone is why most of my workflows moved over to Claude, and I no longer work in ChatGPT.
3: Scheduled Tasks
The other thing is that ChatGPT has scheduled tasks. And I’ll give them that.
You can tell it, every Monday at 8:00 a.m., remind me to check the pipeline. And it will. But check the fine print.
OpenAI’s own help documents say it very clearly. Scheduled tasks in ChatGPT do not support file uploads.
They do not support GPTs. They cannot touch the apps that you’ve connected with sync. For example, Google Drive or your SharePoint.
So, what is a scheduled task actually doing? Well, it’s prompting itself. It’s an alarm clock with a typing finger.
Claude-scheduled tasks, on the other hand, are a very different category.
Every single time one fires, it gets a fresh co-work session with access to your files, your MTP connectors, your skills, your plugins, all of them.
I run loads of these. For example, I have a Sunday research pool for my school community. 7:00 a.m. Swiss time every Sunday, Claude searches a curated list of sources, drafts four posts for the week, and drops them in a folder that I review with my coffee.
I have not written prompts in a long time. I do review them, and it just runs. That is not an alarm clock. That is basically an employee.
It’s only possible because Claude scheduled tasks have hands, which ChatGPT doesn’t allow scheduled tasks to have or to do.
4: Projects Capacity
The next thing is that ChatGPT projects have files and instructions, and so do Claude projects. On the surface, it looks like they’re the same, but underneath, there’s a different scale entirely.
A cloud project holds 30 megabytes per file and unlimited files.
When the project knowledge gets close to the 200,000-token context ceiling, Claude switches on what’s called RAG, or retrieval-augmented generation, automatically.
Your effective capacity expands by 10 times. You don’t configure it. You don’t have to pay extra. It just happens when the project gets big enough to need it.
When you upload a file to a project, Claude caches it. So every time you reference it later, you only pay for the new context, not the cached file.
Again, for a founder running a business inside a single project, every contract, every client document, every past sales call, that compounding becomes very significant.
5: Artifact Ecosystem
Let’s talk about artifacts because Claude artifacts are the little working tools, calculators, dashboards, and mini apps that Claude builds on the side of your conversation.
You can publish one with a link, and anyone in the world can open it. They don’t need a Claude account, actually. But here’s what almost nobody talks about, or knows, maybe.
There’s a public catalog of artifacts that other Claude users have built, and you just browse, find one that you like, and click Customize.
It forks it into your own cloud account at the starting point of your own session.
Basically, you get to benefit from all the other things that others have built.
With ChatGPT Canvas, I mean, that’s great at letting you highlight one paragraph and rewrite it, but that’s editing.
Claude artifacts are built to be shared and forked. That’s an ecosystem.
Now, if you’re tired of starting every tool from a blank chat, that catalog could become your shortcut.
6: Parallel Sub Agents
This one’s for the founders who run real systems.
Claude can spawn multiple sub-agents, multiple instances of itself working in parallel, each with its own isolated context, coordinated by a parent that gives them the work and collects the results.
For example, if you want to research five competitors at once, five sub-agents, five competitors working individually, and then you get one summary.
Want to read every contract in your folder and summarize the risks? Sub-agents split the folder and report back.
The official benchmark is 50% to 70% faster on multi-file work than a single agent doing it in series.
In practice, it feels like having a small team of little people, or agents, that never sleep.
7: Data Privacy Controls
Now, the last one. And this is the one that I think every business owner watching this needs to actually do something about.
If you pay for ChatGPT Plus right now, your conversations are being used to train OpenAI’s models by default right now.
Including the client work, the contract reviews, the pricing strategies, the personal stuff, everything. And a lot of people don’t know how to turn it off because the toggle to turn it off is tucked three menus deep. And OpenAI’s own help documents confirm it’s defaulted on.
But Claude, the opposite is the default. Your conversations are not used for training. You’d have to opt in if you wanted them to be manually.
I mean, we can have a long debate about this, but it’s not an opinion. These are the public terms of both platforms.
So, if you’ve been pasting your client documents, your launch plans, your half-formed offers into ChatGPT Plus chat for the last six months, open ChatGPT, go to Settings, then Data Controls, and then turn it off.
It’s the smallest thing, but it’s also the one that probably matters the most.
Those are the seven differences between what ChatGPT thinks it can do and what Claude does a lot better.

The real difference between Claude and ChatGPT is not the model. They’re closer than the marketing makes them sound. The real difference is the shape of the work.
ChatGPT is a chat window with smart attachments, a few connectors, and a little bit of automation. Cloud is a workspace with a smart partner inside.
If you build your business inside a chat window, you’re going to spend the rest of 2026 retyping the same prompts and rebuilding the same context. But if you build it inside a workspace, the system can compound.
